Basket Weave Newborn to 3 Month Beanie

Abbreviations Used:
CH – Chain
FPDC – Front Post Double Crochet
BPDC – Back Post Double Crochet
HDC – Half Double Crochet
RSC - Reverse Single Crochet
SL ST – Slip Stitch
ST – Stitch
Materials Needed:
        Worsted Weight Yarn – I used Red Heart Super Saver for the sample
        H Hook
       Yarn Needle
Size: Adult
Gauge: N/A (not gathered just yet)
Notes:
     You will be alternating in a pattern of 3 front post double crochet and then 3 back post double crochet for two rows and then you will reverse it and do 3 back post double crochet and then 3 front post double crochet.






























Special Stitch Instruction:
       BPDC – Yo, insert hook around the post of the stitch below from the BACK side, yo, pull through and complete as a regular double crochet stitch.

       FPDC - Yo, insert hook around the post of the stitch below from the FRONT side, yo, pull through and complete as a regular double crochet stitch.

       RSC -
Directions:
Ch 4, sl st into 1st ch.

Rnd 1 – Hdc 8 times in ch 4 circle. Sl st to 1st hdc to join. (8 hdc)
Rnd 2 – Ch 1, 2 hdc in each st around, sl st to 1st hdc to join (16 hdc)
Rnd 3 – Ch 1, Hdc in 1st st, *2 hdc in next st, hdc in next st* repeat around, sl st to 1st hdc to join (24 hdc)
Rnd 4 – Ch 1, Hdc in 1st two st, *2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 2 st* repeat around, sl st in 1st hdc to join. (32 hdc)
Rnd 5 – Ch 1, Hdc in 1st three st, *2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 3 st* repeat around, sl st to 1st hdc to join. (40 hdc)
Rnd 6 – *fpdc in 4 st {this includes the st that you sl st into at the beginning}, bpdc in next 4 st* repeat around, sl st into 1st st {This would be the 1st fpdc NOT the ch 2.  Ch 2 does NOT count as a st in this pattern}  Ch 1 (40 st)
Rnd 7 – Repeat Rnd 6
Rnd 8 - *bpdc in 4 st, fpdc in next 4 st* repeat around, sl st into 1st st.  Ch 1 (40 st)
Rnd 9 – Repeat Rnd 8
Repeat Rounds 6 through 9 one more time.  You will have a total of 13 Rounds.
Rnd 14 – Rsc around, tie off, weave in ends.

  2. What would be the trick if you wanted the weave parts to be three or four rows instead of two?

    1. Sorry about the delay... The trick would simply be to repeat the row more than one time. If you do round 6 and want them to be longer you would repeat round 6 for say round 7 and 8 instead of just round 7 ;)
