Basket Weave Newborn to 3 Month Beanie

Abbreviations Used: CH – Chain FPDC – Front Post Double Crochet BPDC – Back Post Double Crochet HDC – Half Double Crochet RSC - Reverse Single Crochet SL ST – Slip Stitch ST – Stitch Tutorials available at http://diamondcrochetcrafts.blogspot.com/p/tutorials.html	Materials Needed:         Worsted Weight Yarn – I used Red Heart Super Saver for the sample         H Hook        Yarn Needle Size: Adult Gauge: N/A (not gathered just yet)
Notes:      You will be alternating in a pattern of 3 front post double crochet and then 3 back post double crochet for two rows and then you will reverse it and do 3 back post double crochet and then 3 front post double crochet.

Special Stitch Instruction:

       BPDC – Yo, insert hook around the post of the stitch below from the BACK side, yo, pull through and complete as a regular double crochet stitch.

       FPDC - Yo, insert hook around the post of the stitch below from the FRONT side, yo, pull through and complete as a regular double crochet stitch.

       RSC -

Directions:

Ch 4, sl st into 1^st ch.

Rnd 1 – Hdc 8 times in ch 4 circle. Sl st to 1^st hdc to join. (8 hdc)

Rnd 2 – Ch 1, 2 hdc in each st around, sl st to 1^st hdc to join (16 hdc)

Rnd 3 – Ch 1, Hdc in 1^st st, *2 hdc in next st, hdc in next st* repeat around, sl st to 1^st hdc to join (24 hdc)

Rnd 4 – Ch 1, Hdc in 1^st two st, *2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 2 st* repeat around, sl st in 1^st hdc to join. (32 hdc)

Rnd 5 – Ch 1, Hdc in 1^st three st, *2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 3 st* repeat around, sl st to 1^st hdc to join. (40 hdc)

Rnd 6 – *fpdc in 4 st {this includes the st that you sl st into at the beginning}, bpdc in next 4 st* repeat around, sl st into 1^st st {This would be the 1^st fpdc NOT the ch 2.  Ch 2 does NOT count as a st in this pattern}  Ch 1 (40 st)

Rnd 7 – Repeat Rnd 6

Rnd 8 - *bpdc in 4 st, fpdc in next 4 st* repeat around, sl st into 1^st st.  Ch 1 (40 st)

Rnd 9 – Repeat Rnd 8

Repeat Rounds 6 through 9 one more time.  You will have a total of 13 Rounds.

Rnd 14 – Rsc around, tie off, weave in ends.

As promised... Though a little late, here is the second installment in the "Basic Beanie's Collection" lol.  I actually have a set of these that I keep made up... Basically when I am writing a pattern in stead of constantly measuring (I do have a bit of OCD) I just check it with the basic beanie that is already made up!  It has saved me a TON of time!  They can be worked in rounds as well, however the thought of rounds tends to intimidate a beginner so this one is technically in rows.


Please remember that we are NOT TURNING at the end of each row, you will attach, chain 1 and keep going forward.


Basic Beanie 0-3 Month
H Hook
Worsted Weight (4) Yarn of your choosing


Directions:
Chain 4, sl st join or use magic circle
Row 1 – Ch 1, 8 hdc in center circle, sl st to beg hdc. (8 hdc)
Row 2 – Ch 1, 2 hdc in each st around, sl st to first hdc (16 hdc)
Row 3 – Ch 1, hdc in first st, *2 hdc in next st, hdc in next st* repeat around, 2 hdc in last st, sl st to first hdc (24 hdc)
Row 4 – Ch 1, hdc in first 2 st, *2 hdc, hdc in next 2 st* repeat around, 2 hdc in last st, sl st to first hdc (32 hdc)
Row 5 – Ch 1, hdc in first 3 st, *2 hdc, hdc in next 3 st* repeat around, 2 hdc in last st, sl st to first hdc (40 hdc)
Row 6 - Ch 1, hdc in first 4 st, *2 hdc, hdc in next 4 st* repeat around, 2 hdc in last st, sl st to first hdc (48 hdc)
